Engineering Wizard |
The engineering wizard consists (mainly) of the same steps regardless of whether you're forward or reverse-engineering:
1. Complete the Getting Started steps.
2.
Specify the Direction you want to engineer:
Forward or Reverse.
3.
Specify the Visual Case Database that
you want to forward-engineer or reverse-engineer into. If
you're reverse-engineering a database, you can create a new Visual Case
database as part of this step.
4. Specify the location of your Physical Database. Usually this will involve selecting your ODBC data source. However, if you're engineering an Access database, you may specify the path to the mdb file.
5.
Specify any Formatting Options (such
as case conversions) that you want to perform. This
step only applies to reverse-engineering.
6.
Customize
your engineer by reviewing the differences between the physical database
and your Visual Case design and specifying which entities you want to
engineer.
7.
Save a copy of the Script File that
will be used to make your changes. This
step applies to forward-engineering only.
8. Finish the engineer.
